You’re Not Going to See ‘Agitator’ Uncut, Not from Pathfinder, Not from Anyone.

Little emailing backwards and forwards with Ryan (hey, Ryan, nice work) and it’s straight from the horses mouth that the company holding their grubby little mitts around the masters for the Uncut (200 minute) version of Takashi Miike’s ’Agitator‘ aren’t letting go. Nope. They will not license that verison out. So it seems that this is one of those issues that could still get resolved but firmly stands as a something that’s going to take some skill to bash out if they’re ever to change their mind.

Anyway, time to bit the bullet and bye the R2 UK 150 minute version from Tartan? Soft image? To the point of it looking like its been shot on a 20 year-old camcorder, yes. Shame, it’s the only subtitled disc I know of. Anyway, this is also a call in despair that there’s still great Miike films not getting releases (cough, ’Graveyard of Honor‘ etc) and this is one of the most hankered-after examples in that list.

Oh, and Ryan, good idea and nicely done - two heads are better than one.

    Damn! I always wanted to see the long version. I have the Tartan disc, and it is indeed crap-tastic.

    Thats freaking lame. Who is Ryan? These guys need their heads checked, release the damn thing or sell it off.

    The subtitled 2 disc version is a bootleg that was subtitled by the former ebay seller known as CANNIBAL KING. his version was mastered from the Japanese rental VHS tapes so dunno if it looks better or worse than the UK DVD. Certainly is watchable and I wouldn’t want to miss a minute of that film! CANNIBAL has apparently quit ebay but he has a website and recently subtitled MAN IN WHITE as well. Not going to link to a bootlegger, though, so google it if you have to. In the case of AGITATOR, however, I have to say I think the bootleg is the way to go. If nobody can get it released officially for some retarded legal resosns or whatever, then I say more power to the pirates!

    Double feature box containing Graveyard of Honor, original and remake. the miike version is subbed german and english. the original carries german subtitles only…
