The Home Song Stories
“Wait a second!”, the knowledgable among you are no doubt saying, “Ryu Seung Wan’s already made Dajjimawa Lee!” This is right. This is true. But the original 2000 version of the film was a thirty five minute short intended for viewing only on the internet and according to Han Cinema the director has brought the original cast - including his brother, Ryu Seung-beom - to shoot a feature version. This is all well and good ... I’m a fan of the Ryu brothers and welcome anything they care to do, but ....
What does this mean for Yacha? Ryu’s martial arts, period set zombie film has been listed as being in pre-production for ages now without any footage or images beyond a teaser poster hitting the net - unusual in celebrity mad Korea, where poster shoots are news events - and I can only hope that his moving on to a different film does not indicate that he’s abandoned this one. Because I neeeeeeed a period set martial arts film. Yes, I do.

No worries, Todd – Ryu did not abandon YACHA, but merely postponed it, as it was difficult to get enough investment at this point. As far as DAJJIMAWA LEE feature is concerned, it won’t be nearly as goofy as the original short, and the action scenes will be much better.
