Is Asia finally getting over the hair ghost phenomenon?  Could be ... Hideo Nakata - the primary cause for the phenomenon thanks to the phenomenal success of Ringu - avoids it entirely in Kaidan which is earning early raves, Korea’s The Black House is likewise a significant success that stays away from that particular trope while Thailand’s stunning 13 Beloved stands as one of the most acclaimed genre pictures out of the region in the past year and also mines entirely different territory.

I doubt the hair ghost will ever entirely go away but it’s good to see film makers tapping in to some other devices and while it does get a little ghostly in moments Monthon Arayangkoon’s The House looks to mine some interesting ground as well.  Here’s a synopsis from Movieseer:

Inspired by true story of three horrible murders that happened to three women in different times. The film tells a story of Chalinee, a girl who intensively finds the truth of the past cruel murders. Finally, it leads her to a house where the crimes started. Something haunts in the house is the most terrible experience for her.

Production values in this look very good, balancing out rather a lot of blood with a good sense of tone and mood.  The production company has had their fingers in a lot of quality films so it’s safe to hope for more thanjust splatter here and the trailer seems to bear that out.
