Whether or not I keep shaking my head at the derivative nature of of the story and the US marketing campaign for comic-adaptation Wanted, the fact that Russian ‘Watch Series’ director Timur Bekmambetov is at the helm is impossible to ignore.  Here is trailer #3 (after the Jump) which has the first ‘individual insect’ shooting scene since Joon-Hwan Jang‘s Save the Green Planet. This makes me smile.  Also, because we seem to have missed it from a couple weeks ago, the joyously gory (and relatively Angelina Jolie-free international red band trailer).  Wanted will be assaulting multiplexes June 27th and hopefully some one will kick Bekmambetov in the pants to finish off his trilogy with Twilight Watch sooner rather than later.

At first I was sort of “Meh” about this film but I’m getting more and more excited to see this. This over the top insanity is hopefully fun to watch.

I’m still pretty interested in seeing the movie because of Bekmambetov’s crazy visuals, but it’s a shame they didn’t stick with the original story.  Instead of being the anti-comic book movie it could’ve been, it looks more like a regular action movie.

I felt that Night Watch was directed by the equivalent of a russian Michael Bay. So i’ve been avoiding the guy ever since.

    ChevalierAguila, i couldn’t agree more.

and has anyone noticed? James McAvoy = Neo, Jolie = Trinity and Morgan Freeman = Morpheus.
