We posted up some stunning images for Zhang Yimou’s Curse of the Golden Flower in a previous Twitch article. The full website (where both trailers and several featurettes are live at the moment) of the film is scheduled to launch with the end of the AFI Film Market on November 10th where Curse of the Golden Flower is the closing night film. Clickable large versions of 15 new images are available after the jump.

Just to clarify: CURSE will be the closing night film of AFI Fest on Sunday, November 12. And this cut may be slightly different from what played in China on a qualifying run for Best Foreign Language Film submission.

This is the day of Kurt not getting his facts straight. I’m sure that the SPC site for Curse of the Golden Flower will be ‘fully operational’ as of the 10th, (I guess in anticipation of) the closing night screening on the 12th.

Simply awesome-looking.

This is looking ridiculously amazing.

Watch the tv preview, it reminds me of The Promise when a golden clad Jay Chou falls into a throng of silver clad soldiers..

Although Hero and House of Flying Daggers were decent, they were more about aesthetics and less about substance. I hope Zhang Yimou does not extend the streak with this one.

The shots of the interior palace looks like a hippie’s vision of China.

Just watched this yesterday and hope to have a review up later today, but I think this is the best of his three wuxia flicks. It plays like Shakespeare and is simply visually stunning. It took four months just to make the emperor’s festival robe alone and Gong Li is radiant in her scorn.
