Nice. Never seen a single episode but I cought one of the films. Not that great but with that talent behind it, it might be awsome.
Shusuke Kaneko did Godzilla, Mothra, King Gidrah: Giant monsters all out attack which was the third movie in this last series.

Caught the first episode of this with english subs. Very nicely done. Great blending of CGI and traditional “suitmation”. There - sadly, is nothing on US TV that has this volume of effects or is this much fun.

Course it’s the same old plot over, and over… monster appears (in this case there are two - both excellent designs), man sacrifices his life to save others, merges with Ultraman, given this year’s beta capsule to become the 900th “Ultraman”, Ultraman “Whatever”, who looks like the 899 other Ultramen but has a slight variation of costume.

Ordinarily, this kind of repitition would be boring, but it NEVER is in the case of japanese giant monster movies and TV shows. The more I see, the more I want to see. See?

This show rocks, and for the first time in a while, the effects are simply outstanding. The best of American CGI realism, merged with the flat out crazy fun of japanese suited monsters, minitures, wire works, and pyrotechnics… The updated, smart effects work benefits the series greatly.

This one has elements of Ultraman Ace, and some of the colorful zany optics of the 70’s Ultraman. In fact, Max bears resemblence to old uncle Ace. And much of the plot element seems to be a “homage” to the classic introductory episode of Ace, if you’ve ever seen it.

Do check out Ultraman Max if you can. Best since Tiga.

The old ultra man episodes were cool as hell for me back in the 1960’s, but the new crap I have seen is worthless.  Are they coming out with anything else new for the 40th?

I don’t understand Japanese, but I still Love watching Max. I hope they are dubbing in English for me soon. Max Rocks Bigtime, I only wish they would do away with the energy loss thing with the blinking light. If they’d get rid of that then Ultraman would be truely Ultra!

Umm, I hope you know that those are illegally sold.  The official dvds of the show don’t even go to 20 yet and are not subtitled.  You can get up to episode 18 already fansubbed for free.  Just go to http://www.tokuplex.com and click on the bittorrent link or follow the info to reach the irc channel.  Hope this helps you save some money.  It also prevents bootleggers from making money off shows they don’t own.

    Keep it real.
