Turkish Gambit:  New Film From the Producers Of The Night Watch

I don’t know that I’d be so interested in this one if not for the production company involved but I’ve read some good reviews online and the trailer holds promise.  I have a certain fascination with seeing what people do to follow up on success and Turkish Gambit - a historical war / adventure film - is the latest film from the Russian production house responsible for The Night Watch.  The Russian industry is in an interesting place right now ... after decades of neglect a new crop of film makers are injecting some fresh blood and audiences are turning out in record numbers, so much so that Russia is now the third largest film market in mainland Europe, behind only France and Italy.  If they can build on their past success we could be seeing the birth of a major new power in the film world ...

Anyway, enough of that.  The film’s website is here and you can check the trailer out here.  Hard to say for sure because you don’t get a very good look at his face but I’m pretty sure I spotted the lead actor from Night Watch getting blown through the air ...

    Looks really awesome.  I didn’t spot the lead actor from Night Watch, though I did see that the guy who played Ignat in Night Watch is in this.

    I’m not 100% certain that it’s him, but check the scene they lifted from Die Hard 2 - the explosion blowing the guy up into the air towards the camera.  I could be wrong, what with him screaming at the time and the shot only showing his face clearly for a moment, but he certainly looks familiar ...

    He didn’t play in Night Watch; he is another person. But crazybee is right - man who played Ignat in NW is the bad guy in Turkish Gambit… And more one interesting thing. This movie is based on the best-selling novell series of russian author. In Russia at April will start new movie based on the next book from this serie. And NW lead actor will play main role in this movie.russian movie of last years.

    Just saw that the DVD of this is out now ... no English subs, though ... seems like a wasted opportunity, there ...
