The Royal Tenenbaums
I love a good cop movie and Russia’s upcoming Gosudar looks to fit the bill. There’s no English language info on this one anywhere that I can find but the trailer makes the story clear enough - there’s a killer preying on young girls and the cops aren’t doing so well when it comes to tracking him down. The trailer plays with a nice blend of 70’s style grit and post-CSI blood and guts that, bolstered by the fact they’ve cast this entirely with actors old enough to have some weight and weariness behind them rather than stocking it up with pretty young things, makes this look like a winner.

Oh, I can see Russian trash here… Well, I can guess this isn’t “blend of 70’s style”, but the only kind of camera and film they’ve got)

This is unofficial trailer, it was deleted from the site where it had benn posted. The trailer in normal quality will be available later.
Derek, tell us about polish cinema. Ooooops, it almost doesn’t exist.

And the title of the movie not Gosudar’ (it is old one, producers had changed it), but “The one who puts out the light” or “The one, who switches off the light” (Тот, кто гасит свет, transliteration: Tot, kto gasit svet)

why do you think I’m Polish? No, I’m from Ukraine. We have no cinema at all!
Nevertheless, I don’t mean to offend anybody. Trash is ok for me. That kind of movies are quite all-sufficient. The only problem is that every new release hardly brings anything innovative to the cinema. It has been all the same for last 20 years (I start counting from the end of the 80’s).
But after all it’s definitely better than something like “Никто не знает про секс, кроме Ксении Собчак”
