Out Of The Past
Tokyo Zombie has been announced for Japanese DVD release on July 28th. So far they’re saying no English subtitles for the Asano / Aikawa starring horror comedy, but given the recent spate of Japanese films announced without subtitles that have ended up having them I wouldn’t rule it out just yet. What we really need is for some Japanese speaker out there to find back cover scans of this and Ranpo Jigoku to tell us what it says there ...

oh nice!! I saw “TOKYO ZOMBIE” in theaters in Japan last december. the film was alright but the main reason to see it is cuz its a zombie flick, and to watch the beautiful on-screen chemistry between tadanobu asano and sho aikawa.

Regarding Ranpo Jigoku, I checked out Yahoo Japan and all the info there points to Japanese subs only. No mention on the Geneon Entertainment homepage either. Mind you, that was the case with Kuchu Teien (Hanging Garden) and it ended up having them, so who knows?

thats one of the concerns lately, the both yesasia and cdjapan have missed on information about english subtitles being included in some releases - not necessarily their own fault of course, simply that companies tend to make announcements that either arent complete or they change the specs or whatever… some companies websites are also very hard or impossible to find or navigate in order to clarify things on a film-by-film basis. thats whay i am surprised sometimes that snippets are revealed about the inclusion of subs by twitch readers when they could have sent a quick email or note in to let us know (which we can then forward) or indeed that people know any kind of snippet not clearly revealed online which they dont share around (short reviews even)… odd, but info doesnt always flow well, which would always help us all.
