Kill Bill, Volume 1
Good news for cult film fans: organizers of the New York Asian Film Festival have just dropped a line to let us know that cult splatter film Tokyo Gore Police will be taking a bow at this year’s edition of the festival.
In the near future...The Tokyo Police force has been privatized and incorporated. The new force has their hands full with a new type of genetically engineered mutant stalking the streets and brutally taking human lives. Luca, the top level officer at Tokyo Police has special law enforcement skills but her dark past makes her vulnerable. She is determined to hunt the mutant known as “Engineer” until the day she can find and destroy the mysterious “Key-Man”.
This one comes from the same creative team as was behind The Machine Girl and looks to be, if anything, even more over the top. Audition‘s Eihi Shiina stars, with action choreography by Versus‘ Tak Sakaguchi. You’ll find the official trailer and an extended reel below the break.

Damn, if Eihi Shiina just stood there like that with her samurai sword and that killer outfit for an hour and a half, I’d still look for it on DVD.

I saw Machine Girl yesterday. Not a great movie, but a lot of fun.
This looks even more crazy.

We went up to see the rough cut of TOKYO GORE POLICE with unfinished sound and effects and were pretty impressed. I like MACHINE GIRL and think it’s all kinds of fun but would never argue that it’s a “good” movie. TOKYO GORE POLICE on the other hand is what happens to MACHINE GIRL when it’s been put in the hyper-evolvo chamber for a thousand years, blasted with atomic radiation, rubbed with mysterious balms from the land of Gadzooks! and has crystal meth pumping through its veins instead of blood. Think STARSHIP TROOPERS meets Peter Jackson’s DEAD ALIVE with Shinya Tsukamoto and David Cronenberg’s mutant dwarf freak baby standing on its back and howling.

@Grady Hendrix
In the trailers there was this girl with Katana’s for limbs, are there any characters who are more bizarre thant that in the movie? How well does the fighting with the Katana limbs go, it seems rather clunky?

The quad-katana limbed beast - Holy slap in the face and call me sally!!!! Possibilities are endless. TGP appears to have the best qualities found in Meatball Machine, Reject or Death and Sexual Parasite!! Beyond crazy!! Love the homage paid to Reject or Death. Looking forward to this.

I haven’t seen Meatball Machine, Machine Girl or TGP [as they haven’t been released in Nihon!] but I am liking this new wave of....extremo gore/ nonsensical storytelling from Japan.
From what I hear, as long as they make a profit for Fever Dreams or any other company, they’re just gonna keep making them.
The all mighty US buck goes a long way over here in the film industry.
Whats below cheap in the US is often more than acceptable here.
