TIFF: Mabrouk El Mechri Talks JCVD!

Leading in to this year’s edition of the Toronto International Film Festival I had, as always, a small list of film makers who I hoped to meet and spend some time talking with. Right up at the top of that list? JCVD director Mabrouk El Mechri. I’ve been seriously smitten by his film since first seeing it in the market in Cannes and has a good number of questions to put to him. Well, yesterday I had the chance and found him to be as clever and engaging away from the camera as his work is in front of it and more than happy to talk about the creation of his latest film, working with Van Damme and some key moments in the film that happened spontaneously on set.
