The Official THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE WEIRD Trailer Kicks Ass And Takes Names.

If not for the fact that we posted the sales promo for Tony Jaa’s Ong Bak 2 just a few days ago this new trailer for Kim Ji-Woon’s Korean western The Good, The Bad and The Weird would surely go down as the trailer of the year.  The director of A Bittersweet Life and A Tale of Two Sisters has always been one of Korea’s greatest visual talents - a huge compliment considering just how well most Korean films are shot - but he has seldom been as energetic and playful as he is here.  The cast is stellar, the scope of the thing impressive, the action sequences crackle the use of music is clever, and golly won’t the ladies go crazy for Lee Byung Hyun’s eyeliner?  Reception in Cannes was fantastic and it’s easy to see why.

You can check out the new theatrical trailer as well as the English subtitled sales promo in the Twitch Player below the break.

Yep, this is definitely my most anticipated Korean film of the year.

Looks like it could be “Movie of the Year” to me.

  3. quartet4 06/20/2008 @ 12:53pm

    I’m loving the cinematographic flourishes.

The moral of this story - Kim Ji-Woon should have been put in charge of INDIANA JONES 4.

Rhythm-X you’ve got that right!! So I guess we have to all wait till the end of the summer to see this in some form (likely dvd). Anyone know who does the magnificent score?

    I came a bit…

I went to the website and in a remarkable twist, the export English-language poster is phenomenal, I-want-it-now phenomenal, while the local Korean market posters look rather like the sort of soulless Photoshopped garbage you’d see in an American multiplex.

I agree Rhythm-X - the individual character international posters have a great retro feel to them, while the group shot is pure Sergio Leone.

Wow, that was so much fun. I can’t wait. All those actors are great in their own way. Jung Woo-sung is a very good physical actor and clearly he can work that angle. Lee Byung-hun is so cool. Damn. Song Kang-ho should be hilarious. This shouldn’t be anything less than entertaining.

I really really really hope to see this on the big screen in glorious scope !
Happy to see Korean genre cinema seems to be getting back on the rails !!!

If this is the equivalent of Takashi Miike’s Sukiyaki Western (Django),
does anybody know a typical Korean dish to categorise this one ??

This was on my keep-in-mind list, but it just moved to have-to-see-as-soon-as-possible list.

This looks to be insanely cool and fun!

I’m very excited.  I don’t know if I’m turned on by the eyeliner though.  But, I am digging the flash of Jung Woo-Sung riding his horse and firing his shotgun.
