Antarctic Journal
Over the 3+ year lifespan of Twitch, there have been more than a few requests to do some sort of Podcast. This is not exactly it, but it is close in a way. In collaboration with FilmJunk, Mad About Movies, The Documentary Blog and Movie Patron, The Movie Club is an informal discussion/dissection of two films per month. A sort of hybrid mutant child of a conventional book club and a podcast recording. Two films are chosen in advance. We all go our separate ways and watch the two films. Then we gather to praise, damn, reflect and ponder. Rinse. Repeat. Thus far there have been two recorded episodes and the resulting happiness in the air tends to make the group think this little club will be staying around for a while.
Episode One focuses on Jim Jarmusch‘s Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai and Todd Field‘s criminally underseen Little Children. Episode Two features the rockumentary Gimme Shelter and Sergio Leone‘s batshit crazy Duck You Sucker. Episode Three (coming in December) will be on two post-apocalyptic films (you know, for Christmas), Escape From New York and The Last Man On Earth.
There is a (temporary) little home for this podcast over at blogger until more permanent quarters are found. You can download or stream the current two episodes there and vote for the films for Episode Four. We hope to please, as these things are quite fun to record. There is also the possibility of bringing more people into the rotation for future shows.
