THE GRUDGE’s Takashi Shimizu Goes Lo-Fi! It’s GHOST VERSUS ALIEN 03!

Is this what we get for poking fun at Takashi Shimizu for essentially making the same film - the Ju-On / Grudge series of pictures - seven times? Heh ... whatever the motivation, Shimizu has been indulging his inner trash-film fan with an ongoing series of dueling short films with director Keisuke Toyoshima. Titled Ghost Versus Alien, they are exactly that, a pair of short films - one from each director - one a science fiction, one a horror, both incredibly goofy, low budget fun. Seriously, this is absolutely ridiculous stuff but the creators are enjoying it enough to keep doing them and audiences are apparently enjoying it enough for this latest entry to be expanded out to feature running time for a proper theatrical run in Japan. Words fail me, just watch the trailer embedded in the Twitch Player below the break.

That looks amazing! I’m actually a fan of all his films (I like all the Grudges, gulp) and this looks like a big departure. Looking very forward to this one.

There was some quirky humor in his TOMIE flick, which is the only one of his movies I found watchable. This… Haha, oh wow. I dunno. But I’ll say that maybe there’s hope for him yet.
