Sad Vacation
File this one under missed opportunity. We’ve known for a while now that the British horror/comedy The Cottage would not be receiving any sort of theatrical run outside of its native England. Instead it is going to be released on DVD on May 13th. Fair enough. Some of our readers made an excellent point that most immediate coverage for any anticipated project is through a DVD release, not a theatrical run. I conceded.
But wow, this cover makes it look like some sort of Leatherface/Jigsaw/Amityville rip-off. What I fear is that someone is going to see this cover and think just that or be mislead about what the film is about, and just ignore it. Maybe it is just me but I thought that using the image from the quad poster would have be a nice touch. At least the more astute movie buyer would see Andy Serkis’ face and make the connection with King Kong or LOTR. Okay, the VERY astute movie buyer. I know, I know. I should just be happy about the release.
The film itself will be presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track. Extras will include deleted scenes, outtakes, a storyboard gallery, and a bonus digital copy of the film.

Agreed. As the Brits would say; what a load of Bollocks.
