It’s odd. I know that some of us have seen Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and we all liked it, but none of us wrote up a review for it. Odd indeed. Anywho…

Tim Burton’s envisioning of the musical Sweeney Todd is ‘bloody’ fantastic, and this is coming from a guy who shrinks into himself when he hears the word ‘musical’. Paramount is going to release three editions of the film on April 1st. The standard release will only have one extra featurette on it; ‘Burton + Depp + Carter = Todd’. The 2-disc Special Collector’s Edition [cover left] is chock-a-block full of tasty morsels my lovelies. Along with the featurette from the standard edition you also get…

Sweeney Todd is Alive: The Real History of the Demon Barber
Musical Mayhem: Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd
Sweeney’s London
The Making of Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Grand Guignol: A Theatrical Tradition
Designs for a Demon Barber
A Bloody Business
The Razor’s Refrain
Moviefone Unscripted with Tim Burton and Johnny Depp feature
A Sweeney Todd Press Conference

There is also reportedly a HD DVD edition of the film though with the industry swing towards Blu-Ray there has been no confirmation if Paramount plans to go ahead with this release. It will have all the features of the Special Edition.

Paramount announced today that they are going Blu so I’m guessing this will hit that format as well.
