The story is as follows. 30 years ago a script is written for an action film entitled Chameleon with the late actor Matsuda Yusaku in mind for the lead. The film would team Matsuda up with regular collaborators, scriptwriter Maruyama Shoichi and producer Kurosawa Mitsuru. The film never came to be and now Maruyama is resurrecting his script with Junji Sakamoto directing and Fujiwara Tatsuya [the Battle Royale and Death Note movies] taking the lead. The supporting cast includes Shioya Shun, Tani Kei, Hagiwara Masato, Toyohara Kosuke, Inuzuka Hiroshi, Kato Haruko, and Kishibe Ittoku.

Tatsuya Fujiwara is starring in a hardboiled action film titled “Chameleon.” The story involves a group of young swindlers who witness a kidnapping. As a mysterious organization begins killing them off, one of them decides to take revenge into his own hands…

...the movie started filming at the end of November. Fujiwara impressed the director with his forthright acting style and willingness to take physical risks. In one scene, he barreled down a flight of steps on a motorbike and completed filming covered in bruises. The movie is scheduled to open in theaters next summer, and distributor Toei is planning on turning the movie into a series.
