Driving With My Wife's Lover
Some handy Seven Swords news here, thanks to Chelle at DonnieYen.us ...
Tsui Hark’s latest epic has been generating a largely mixed response - likely due to having been cut down to 2.5 hours from an original running time closer to 4 - but anticipation is still running so high that the mainland Chinese DVD release date has been pushed forward to August 7th to combat piracy. But before you go getting all excited this will be only the 2.5 hour cut - the four hour version should follow at a later date - and will be mandarin only. It’s also coming from GD Face, who produce notoriously low quality discs. This does, however, mean that a better Hong Kong edition should be coming soon as well, as the Hong Kong rights holders will want to get their stuff out there quickly to keep the mainland edition from gobbling up all of their sales.
Word is also on the street that Tsui Hark has received the official go ahead to begin work on the film’s sequels. If all goes according to plan and the films generate sufficient return there could be as many as six sequels in the pipe ...

If the HK version is out by X-mas, I’ll buy that one. But if it’s not, I’m going for the Chinese DVD.

Just saw this film. it is absolutely disappointing.
Tsui Hark’s style and visual is still the same when he was 10 years ago. I thought at least, there should be some progressive elements in his visual and direction sense. nope, none at all. the editing horribly distorts the flow of both story and visual. characters are flat. it seems the film has no receive much post production treatement, rather raw.
the website has more interesting story elements than the actual movie.
