How upset am I that I missed this one at the Toronto International Film Festival?  I’d be fuming if not for the fact that I saw forty or so other films and was rather fond of the large majority of them but it still stings more than a little bit that the big budget Jacques Mesrine true-crime bio-pic that we’ve been salivating over for months was here in town and I didn’t get out to see it.  And I’m hating myself a little bit more now, honestly, because the film’s second trailer has just arrived online and it’s looking oh so very good.

For those unaware, Mesrine was a real life international gangster who plied his trade throughout France, Europe and Canada throughout the seventies and his life is being made into a true crime epic with Vincent Cassel in the lead.  Stellar Quebecois actor Roy Dupuis also figures large in the film’s Canadian sequences.  Check both trailer below the break and then tell me what an idiot I am.

Looks like you missed out there :(

Vincent looks like he was made for the roles. The film is probably worth watching just for Gérard Depardieu’s performance.

Why do you keep calling this movies “L’Instinct du Mort”? It’s “L’instinct de mort”!

BTW, “Instinct de Mort” means “Death Instinct” or “Death Drive”.

Mostly because my French is very rusty.
