One of the most prolific and versatile directors in the world, Johnnie To has taken a step away from the crime pictures that have built his name lately with a much smaller romantic drama, Linger, starring Vic Zhou and Bing-Bing Li.

Busy Life.  Empty hearts.  Unforgettable lovers.

The reappearance of a lost lover brings back a faint feeling of love.  Yet is is so untouchable.  Is it real or is it just a piece of memory?

A life in the river of time is irreversible.  But we can choose our memory.

It reveals an unbearable truth, while true perfection always comes from bits and pieces of regrets.

Not sure what to think of this flyer, let alone of To making a romantic drama. Either way, I am curious as hell to see how this will turn out.

To has made plenty of non-crime movies.

My Left Eye Sees Ghosts was a particularly good HK comedy and quite a popular one I think.

As was Love on a Diet but I didn’t see that so I can’t recommend it.

Lau Ching Wan and Sammi Cheng are good in My Left Eye—kinda like Ghost in some ways but more light-hearted.

Well, comedy is one thing, romantic drama another. Still, it’s always interesting to see directors making different movies than what they usually do.

Well, “Turn Left Turn Right” contained some romantic drama elements. If someone in Hong Kong can pull it off, it will certainly be Johnny To. I expect to see at least some Derek Yee quality drama with stellar cinematography and spot on editing.
