There Will Be Blood
( A little bump on this article to inform anyone who may not know that Rogue is now out on DVD in Australia for those impatient waiting for the US release )
So while everyone else worldwide WAS waiting for the theatrical release of Greg Mcleans ( Wolf Creek ) ‘Rogue’, Australia had the Theatrical release last November and the DVD has just hit the streets in its native homeland of Australia. For the US, after many delays and a possible theatrical release originally planned the film has been dumped straight to DVD via Dimension Extreme and will hit stores August 5th 2008.

Fangoria posted an update on this yesterday or the day before - looks like it’s scheduled for a small (like 10 city) US release on 4/25. We’ll see if the date sticks…
I’ve heard not-so-nice things about the film as time has passed, but I’ll still give it a shot when it turns up on DVD, I just won’t be importing.

“Welcome to the Terrortory”? That is possibly the greatest tagline ever!

I don’t see it happening (the April 25th release date).
The Weinstein Bros. are the worst thing to happen to genre film distribution since the fire that destroyed the last remaining print of LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT.
I think this might be the 3rd or 4th release date they’ve given us for this film over the last year and a half.
It just seems too sudden, too abrupt and too low profile.
Although, the Weinsteins are know for buying a film, sitting on it for years (until people forget about it, until no one cares about it or until the film is no longer relevent in some cases), then releasing it quietly (and on a limited basis, which basically ENSURES the film will tank) and letting it either get dumped on video, or languish in limited theatrical play and then disappear… only to resurface on DVD some months (years) later.
Basically, I don’t trust that shady, immoral jerks…
I pre-ordered my Aussie DVD back in early March and I stick by my guns, man!
Every chance I can I order from other countries until American distribution companies, studios and retail outlets realize what sells and that we need this stuff YESTERDAY and that holding on to it (or double-dipping us) won’t do any good!
Help spread the message!
Go region-free and send a message to pitiful American studios!

Small correction: the 4/25 release *did* happen, but it was EXTREMELY limited. It played in my area (Dallas), but at only one theater in a megaplex. I really liked it, though not everyone will agree. Here’s my review for Twitch:
