[We’ve just updated this post with a very tasty gallery of stills and behind the scenes shots provided by director David Roddham.  I like the teaser - embedded below the break in the Twitch Video Player - rather a lot and these stills just demonstrate even more than Roddham has a killer eye behind the camera.]

Mmm, very nice.  Shot entirely in Ireland, David Roddham’s new short Fifth Street looks to be one quality piece of work.  Roger Yuan stars in a crime thriller that features guns, gambling, and martial arts all in one beautifully shot package.  Why are you finding Yuan familiar?  Think Jackie Chan, with whom he co-starred in Shanghai Noon.  You’ll find the very impressive teaser in the Twitch Player below the break and here’s a synopsis courtesy of the director:

To be a regular player in the Thursday night game of Texas Hold’em at the 187 Club is something every professional criminal aspires to be. It means you’ve made it to the top, and are now operating as part of a mysterious syndicate. All the Syndicate asks in return is complete loyalty.

The lives and loyalties and futures of Keane the enforcer, Vincent the hit man and Chancer the trafficker are all upended when their friend and colleague Hit Man Marco is replaced by The Kid an obnoxious cyber terrorist.

The Kid comes to the table knowing something the others don’t know, and it doesn’t take him long to figure out how to press all the right buttons.  The Kid is looking to become the top dog at the table, and to him it doesn’t matter who he has to take down. Before the last card is dealt four criminals are playing for much more than the chips on the table.

I’ve been following Fifth Street for a while now and its getting sweeter every time I look at a new pic or trailer. “hotly anticipated” doesn’t cover it.
