Sure, Slither didn’t fare so well at the box office despite the fact that it’s one damn fine film but we still loves us a good creature feature around here and hope the genre’s got some legs.  The next hope for a wriggly, oozing success may just be Canadian production, Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer, which stars horror icon Robert Englund as Professor Crowley, a man possessed by a demonic heart awoken by troubled plumber Jack Brooks when Brooks attempts to fix his pipes.  Luckily for the rest of the planet Jack’s got some anger control issues and he soons realizes that plumbing isn’t his true calling:  monster slaying is!  Trevor Matthews stars as Brooks while local girl Rachel Skarsten—the observant will remember her from short lived super hero show Birds of Prey—stars as the obligatory love interest.

There’s no trailer available just yet but the official web site is loaded with production design sketches and a series of fourteen behind the scenes videos tucked away in the Jack’s Journals section.  Loads of creatures and creature effects in this with the emphasis squarely on practical effects and they look to be doing a stellar job ...

Oh, look, the personal attacks have magically disappeared.  You want to comment on the film itself that’s fine but going for cheap personal shots is nothing but childish and petty and will not be tolerated here.

Hey. I know Rachel. Known her for years. Going to have to give that girl a call! No kidding. She’s the reason my Kevin Bacon number is 4.

No haha you are not commenting on the film itself because it hasn’t been made yet and you haven’t seen a frame of it. So shut your trap until you’ve actually seen it.

Oh, look.  They’ve all disappeared again.  All you’re doing is exposing your own jealousy, man.  You haven’t seen it, the guy’s previous short films are very well regarded on the fest circuit where they’ve won a number of awards, you’re just pissed that someone else is getting an opportunity you don’t have.  Get over it.
