‘Purdy’ U.S. character posters from Takashi Miike’s ‘Sukiyaki Western Django’

Ah yes. Takashi Miike’s Sukiyaki Western Django was a big hit with the Twitch gang at TIFF and IGN got themselves a hold of some very nice U.S. character posters for the upcoming, and likely very small, theatrical release. The characters posters look damn fine and thankfully there are no town mayors hanging from Torii Mon (Shinto shrine gate) to offend local Shintoists.

You can always order the R2 discs and enjoy the full cut of the film.

Thanks 24FPS

YEP, a really nice looking poster, that is untill you look at the top of the poster and see Quentin Tarantino is the star of the movie ????????????

I guess the U.S. ver of the movie was changed quite abit I guess, QTs bit part in the movie expanded to full star of the movie

That’s actually a really cool poster. If they wanted to put Quentin’s name on the poster, they could’ve at least made it smaller and behind the stars’ names. Maybe if they want to relate to us stupid non-Japanese-speaking Americans, they can change Takashi Miike’s name to something like Ted Michaels and change the name of the movie to JAPANESE WESTERN. Then add a hip hop soundtrack and cut the film by 45 minutes. Isn’t that what they do to HK films?

    I want those!

But I like the Japanese poster better.  Oh well, at least I have my Eiga Chirashi to keep me company.

    Wait a sec, I just noticed…

Why don’t the posters mention Hideaki Ito!?

I just can’t help but get excited when anything by Miike gets promoted in america. But yes, Quentin Tarantino is a whore and him getting getting top billing is silly but understandable for the american add campaign.

Screw this cut version, i’ll stick with the Japanese full version.

There’s also a Blu-Ray version available through YesAsia.
It’s the same region as a U.S. disc so it should play on yr PS3.
I’d add the link but it would be better if it was added by a Twitch-person so that the site could get it’s rightful due.

Also, not that he needs my defense or that this topic is that fresh or urgent, but I’d assert that QT has excellent taste and that his placement on the poster is less-than-exciting fallout from same.
There’s certainly tons of shite directors he could lend his name to instead of Miike.
Also, his appearance sort of reciprocates Miike’s cameo in ‘Hostel’

Anyone who considers Stephen Chow to be the finest working actor in HK is alright with me.

“ ...and thankfully there are no town mayors hanging from Torii Mon (Shinto shrine gate) “

    Huh?
It’s in three of the four posters! In every picture which focuses on a single actor, check the top left corner…

    wink
