Park Chan Wook Needs A Leading Lady For His Vampire Film …

Old Boy director Park Chan-Wook has a problem.  His next film, the vampire picture variously known as Bat and Evil Live and listed in the HAF Program guide as Thirst though now officially untitled, is pretty much ready to go.  He’s got his script.  He’s got his backing.  He’s got a stellar lead actor in Song Kang-Ho.  What he can’t find is a leading lady.  Seems he keeps getting turned down due to the lead female role requiring a great deal of explicit nudity and sex scenes rumored to be as detailed as those in Ang Lee’s recent Lust, Caution.  Established actresses don’t want to blow up their image in celebrity mad Korea and the up and comers don’t want the stigma that comes with such things early in their careers ... I’m sure he’ll find someone eventually but it’s stalling things out at the moment ...

    Moon So-ri..your coffin awaits. She’s not afraid to flash some skin and she’s a powerhouse of an actress. Dream lineup right there *crosses fingers*

    If Mrs. Moon won’t do it, there’s always Jeon Do-yeon, it’s not like she’s a prude (haven’t seen Lust, Caution yet, but those opening scenes in Happy End were pretty explicit and she also did a sex scene in Untold Scandal, if i remember correctly) and together with Moon So-ri she’s one of the top korean Actresses. Besides that, both of them already worked with Song Kang-ho, so there you go Mr. Park!

    cast bae du-na! she did some explicit sex scenes before, and she’s a great actress as well; would fit the role i think.
    or yes, jeon do-yeon would be a great choice too.... after what she did in happy end i don’t think she’ll have a problem with sex scenes. but i’d stick to bae du-na!

    Lust, Caution was pretty explicit.

    Also, why do you keep using that smug picture of PCW? I mean, I know he’s smug and all.. wait, where am I going with this.

    Yes, I second Bae Du-Na, who also had a sex scene in Park’s Sympathy Mr. Vengeance.  A beautiful and very talented actress.

    @rentz: Good call on Bae Du-na! Together with the two already mentioned, she completes my top 3 list of favorite korean actresses.

    Bae Du-Na must be in PCW’s list.
    I mean, she already worked with him and except if she changed her mind she’s not affraid of sex scenes (in ‘Sympathy for Mr Vengeance’ and in ‘Plum Blossom’, even if ‘Lust Caution’ is more explicit than what she had done). Anyway, of all the established Korean actresses she’s the best for this kind of role (she just the best ^^), I hope she’ll do it.
