Meanwhile, the double disc Dutch dvd (Regio 2 PAL) coming out July 4th not only carries English subs but also English dub. Just thought you’d like to know.

It’s showing in Vancouver too, at Tinseltown.

Fingers crossed for the French SE having English subs (news on this is still inconsistent). It’ll be shipped to me next week. Expect a big f’ing post about this issue the moment I get final verification on this!!!

  8. Jon Pais 06/15/2007 @ 10:06pm

Ardvark—If the French version doesn’t contain English subs, I’ll gladly take it off your hands. Keep me posted.

  9. Ardvark 06/16/2007 @ 1:39am

    Thanks Jon,

I’ll surely take you up on that offer!

@ Ardvark: Be sure to let us know if the French version contains English subs. I’ll be buying the blu ray version, which should be a region free version if everything is OK. Paprika in 1080p without any upscaling, can’t wait…

  11. Swarez 06/16/2007 @ 10:19am

Blu Ray isn’t region free. Only HD DVD is.

  12. Kajino P 06/16/2007 @ 11:21am

@Swarez: I am well aware that BluRay isn’t region free like HD-DVD. However, luckily there is quite a number of BluRay releases that are being released without a region code. Check this site for a nice list of BluRay titles that can play on any BluRay player:
    http://www.axl.nu/bluray/bluray.lindsite.dk.htm

Anyway, if I remember correctly the french BluRay version Paprika is to be region free as well. Can’t confirm that 100% though.

sony also seem to have a policy of not region coding their BR releases.
