I stopped the trailer about a third of the way through because I wanted to be surprised by this. I’m excited to see what Cerda can do with a feature length film. Hopefully it will be good.

I thought this looked a little too conventional for Cerda, whom I’ve also had high hopes for a feature length film ever since being completely and utterly blown away by his short film “Genesis” years ago. I still hold out hope that this has a few nifty tricks up its sleeve that’ll separate it from the rest of the “Sixth Sense” clones.

I saw the film last night at the Toronto Film Festival and can honestly say it was the scariest film I’ve ever seen.
It was very trippy and the sound was just amazing.
Such a fresh horror film.

The Abandoned is truly one of the most frightening and original horror films I have seen in ages. Most of the music and sound you hear in the film were created by David Kristian and sound designer Glenn Freemantle. Freemantle also worked on My Little Eye and 28 Days Later, and David Kristian’s most recent score was done in collaboration with Ed Dzubak on Douglas Buck’s remake of Brian DePalma’s Sisters. Nacho Cerda and his creative entourage are surely destined for greatness.
