The official site for Wilson Yip’s action film Flash Point is now up. It takes a while to load so have patient. Most of the section is still not active but whats left is a gallery section and in the video section, there is a teaser and a “Shooting Diary”. I suggest you guys to stay away from the synopsis section because it contains major spoiler.

The teaser makes it looks like an average straight-to-DVD action movie.

Have to agree with Mary. I just hope that the movie lives up to the hype. I’ve been waiting for a Donnie Yen movie like this for a long time.

It looks like their incorporating MMA into the action scenes. I wonder how that will translate with all the high flying kicks and stuff.

The action and fighting looks similar to SPL, no doubt the result of Donnie Yen’s talents in stylized-contemporary-wushu-choreography. The MMA looks to be more like Judo, as in SPL, Donnie Yen likes to use Judo--throws, etc...to create a fierce, ONG BAK-like realism to the sequences, also its fair to mention that Johnny To’s Throw Down had something to do with resent inclusion of Judo as well. As far as it looking like a B-flik, even if Yip decided to direct a crappy script again, alla: Dragon Tiger Gate, you can bet the twenty note you throw down on the DVD that the film making is enough bang for your buck. Although this flik looks to be right up there with SPL with plenty of smack for the action-junky.
