Well now, that doesn’t look very pleasant, now does it? I am seriously happy not to be ‘her’ right now… very much so indeed. But then, being near any creature with a mouth wider than a truck does that to me… ick.
I expected something like this, but not by Cannes already. First the tail, then the mouth, then maybe a brief flash in the Theatrical Trailer. And then you have to see the film for the full monster. Both builds anticipation and keeps the central theme of the film (the family and how they react to Mr. Baby Teeth).. well, central.

i really dig the sequence where Song Kang-ho screams out to his dad both in fear of loosing him and the monster. great use of zoom and the expression on Song’s face is priceless. also, the way Song delivers the line is straight on, because Song’s character doesn’t use any formal language when he screams to his dad. it shows that he’s in panic and feels powerless. it reminded of the time when i screamed out to my brother when he ran off to chase after a gang of armed thugs hoping to recollect his cash-less wallet. such may get lost in translation, but Song’s expression is still there.

If you are in Seoul, there is a screening of this movie @ the megabox @ 2:30am. It’s the screening for those who worked on the film. It’s the version that will be shown at Cannes.
