연리지 (Now and Forever) Theatrical Trailer Released

Ahhh… I’m already teary eyed. He’s young, bulky, and thinks love is a game to be enjoyed and tossed in the trash after. He’s never really experienced real LOVE, the one you find in fairy tales and Yoon Seok-Ho Dramas. But suddenly it all changes. It’s a rainy day, and by accident our Min-Soo (Jo Han-Seon) meets the love of his life—he didn’t know she’d be that kind of person, until producers told him distribution sales to Japan and SE Asia would go up 20 fold, so SHE’S ‘HER’, the love of his life—the pure and innocent Hye-Won. With a gentle gesture she smiles at him, and millions of people around the world begin to suffer from a condition called ‘닭살 (chicken flesh) syndrome’. The only problem? She’s Choi Ji-Woo, so, like, she’s gonna die. As always. So you can all cry your hearts out and win her another few Billion Won’s worth of tampons commercials in Japan. It’s his first love, her last love. Like two trees fused together (Korean title means exactly that, how romantic), foh evah.

Produced by Taewon Entertainment and directed by newcomer Kim Seong-Joong, 연리지 (Now and Forever) seems like another heavy-handed potboiler targeted at the Korean Wave and its lucrative distribution prospects, trend which hopefully will die down once Korean producers realize Japanese housewives are not tear robots who’ll fall for every film like this, as the lukewarm reaction to 천국의 나무 (The Tree of Heaven) in the Japanese Media shows. But of course based on star power alone, this film might score big. If anything, the supporting cast might make this watchable, as it includes ad-lib genius Kim Soo-Mi (who’s also a fine dramatic actress, in case you didn’t know), goofball master Choi Sung-Guk, and underrated Seo Young-Hee from last year’s wonderful 내 생애 가장 아름다운 일주일 (All For Love). Release is set for late March, which is quite a busy period—it will go against 청춘만화 (Youth Comic), 여교수의 은밀한 매력 (Bewitching Attraction), 모노폴리 (Monopoly), 가족의 탄생 (The Birth of a Family) and more.     Ahh, I much I despise Choi Ji Woo. Perhaps they will learn only when if flops in Korea AND Japan. Sorry I cannot watch this wretched film for the “desserts”. I could have told them that Japan is not going to like Heaven’s Tree, either. As it is so obviously a Hanryu marketing ploy. That shows in a no man’s land, rejected by Koreans and uninterested by Japaneses.

    see, I told you the kleenex was needed one way or another. It’s so womantic… awwwww. This is gonna be the bestest film of all time, now and foh evah.

    Mrx...I thought SHE was going to die… i was wrong..and dunno why you dislike CJW but i think she was okay...omg!..Just finished watching the trailer, this is too much stereotypy for her. Too bad.

    LOL, you’re actually right. SHE’s the one who dies. I was so excited by the film I misread the production notes. Will have to fix it.

    Lol, good one. I almost fell off my chair laughing. I think I used up all my kleenex on your first paragraph though. How will I watch the trailer now?

    In this movie Jo Han Sun has a much smoother and natural acting skill.

    I noticed his excellent eye expressions that showed various and diversed emotions of his acting.

    His role or character this time perhaps will be very appealing and attractive to most women viewers!

    Hope to be seeing more of him in tv dramas or movie in the near future.
