Not Coming Soon To A Multiplex Near You: Graphic Danish Teen Film MOLLYCAM

There’s nothing that’ll put the kibosh on a film here in North America faster than including anything at all dealing with teenagers having realistic sex. Never mind that they’re all out there doing it like rabbits, put it on screen and your doomed. The furor around Kids in the USA still leaps to mind while here in Canada there was a huge debate around the banning of the more recent Fat Girl - a film that at one point was banned from crossing the Canadian border.

Well, on those grounds alone I think it’s safe to say that you won’t be seeing Danish flick MollyCam on these shores outside of the festival circuit any time soon. Here’s the synopsis from the DFI:

A provocative and gritty tale about teenagers on the edge of society. 16-year-old schoolgirl Molly contacts the authorities and claims she has been raped by her boyfriend Sako and some of his friends. But as the policeman Jens questions her, he finds that Molly is vague about what has happened. Molly, who has been filming her everyday life, has also documented her relationship with Sako. Jens confiscates the film material as part of the investigation and, slowly becoming a voyeur of Molly’s life, he feels a growing attraction for her. “MollyCam” is a thought-provoking film about how the youth generation deals with the pornofication of society.

We’ve got the trailer below the break in the Twitch Player and while it never quite includes any actual nudity it is quite shockingly graphic and considering that the lead character is a sixteen year old girl still wearing braces, you might want to be aware of who’s standing near your desk before watching it.

So, is this another of those “kids doing drugs/having sex/no script/oh let’s be shocked” type of movies?
