Noboru Iguchi‘s Machine Girl (Kataude mashin gâru) is scheduled to start shooting in Japan very soon; according to Iguchi, filming locations for it were scouted yesterday (June 6th).

The screenplay for Machine Girl was written by Iguchi. Yoshihiro Nishimura is responsible for the movie’s special effects, special make-up effects, and molds. Yûji Shimomura is its action choreographer. (Shimomura himself directed Death Trance.)

Here’s a synopsis for Machine Girl from the Fangoria article “Fever Dreams returns to Japan for MACHINE GIRL”: “[Machine Girl] is about a teenager named Ami who sets out for revenge on a gang of bullies who tortured her little brother to death. She winds up losing an arm along the way, and replaces it with a high-powered gun [see the pre-production stills set above], à la Rose McGowan in Grindhouse. But she doesn’t stop at one limb; Ami continues to lose body parts and replac[e] them with more weapons [quite possibly including the drill bra (doriru bura) seen in the pre-production stills set above].”

Iguchi’s previous directing credits include: Cat-Eyed Boy (Nekome kozô), Manji, Sukeban Boy (Oira sukeban), Snake Girl (Madara no shôjo) - one of the movies in the Kazuo Umezu’s Horror Theater (Umezu Kazuo: kyôfu gekijô) hexalogy - Saishû seiki! Natsume Nana - kyûkyoku no erosu, Impolite Education (18-kin - abunai kankei: the kinshinsôkan), the short “Evil Guy” (“Yôchû no harawata”) - a.k.a. “Entrails of a Larva” - and A Larva to Love (Koi suru yôchû).

Nishimura previously worked on such movies as: Iguchi’s Sukeban Boy, Saishû seiki! Natsume Nana - kyûkyoku no erosu, Impolite Education, “Evil Guy”, and A Larva to Love; Shion Sono‘s Exte - Hair Extensions (Ekusute), Strange Circus (Kimyô na sâkasu), Noriko’s Dinner Table (Noriko no shokutaku), and Suicide Circle (Jisatsu sâkuru) - a.k.a. “Suicide Club” - and Yûdai Yamaguchi and Jun’ichi Yamamoto’s Meatball Machine - a.k.a. “Mîtobôru mashin”.

Thanks Gomorrahizer for this bit of news! How bizarre…in addition to sounding like “Planet Terror”, it has shades of the old V-Cinema movie “Onna Battle Copy/Lady Battle Cop” which also involved a woman getting cyber upgrades to take revenge on her those responsible for her rape/death (strangely enough she wasn’t even a cop but a tennis player). While the story sounds pretty good I’m hoping the film isn’t some low budget, Ero-guro type exploitation film (Japan seems to churn out too many of these). The “bullet bra” seems like a ripoff from the recent Anime “Zero Zero Nine One”.

And in that genre, don’t forget the weird “Teenage Hooker Became Killing Machine in Daehakroh”.
