Sorry. I was off having a semblance of a social life - with a person of the opposite gender, even - and didn’t watch the awards. I haven’t even checked who won, though I did see a headline that a local boy won for best animated short. Anything interesting happen?
Go see M. Ward if he happens to be in your town. Nummy.

Chris Rock riled up Sean Penn and had a great Tim Robbins slam (which Robbins took well), which was pretty cool.

Charlie Kaufmann’s comments on the ‘speech clock’ ("THAT IS VERY INTIMIDATING!") were very funny...He practically ran off the stage with the statue…
You definately know his the neurosis in his scripts are close to home.
He was brilliant!

Didn’t miss a thing.
When you see commercials for the Million Dollar Baby dvd it will say “The winner of X ocsars,own it today on dvd” and when you see one for Aviator it will say “Nominated for 11 academy awards,own it today on dvd”.
Which is about the only purpose they serve.

we ended up watching the entire series of the office instead of the oscars. in between a few episodes i caught fragments of the awards. nothing special:beyonce, swank, etc. big whoop. sorry i missed kaufman. eternal sunshine should have been in every category and should have won. it would have, too!
with the list of nominees that were announced (back whenever they were announced) i wasn’t too enthused with this years choices so i didn’t really care to watch anyway.

House of Flying Daggers didn’t win best Cinematography. Hmmm.. That’s the only Oscar moment where I went “WHAT?!?!?!”—everything else was average at best.

Hold on a second… I’m uninterested in the Oscars. I am interested in Todd’s social life. You were out with a girl? Yeah, it’d have to be a girl because you are a guy (at least, that’s what you’ve told me). Hmmmm. Interesting.
