My Blueberry Nights
Thanks to regular reader/contributor/all round nice guy Triflic for posting this in our Forum. He’s been going on about this Firecracker online magazine lately so I bookmarked it myself waiting for the next issue. Firecracker Magazine is part of a growing movement to bring East Asian cinema to the UK and the magazine is just part of Firecracker’s strategy to do so. Firecracker is supported by the UK Film Council. It is a cracking read and issue number six came out this weekend.
Here are just some of things you can find in issue number six.
- An article on the Asian Horror genre
- An interview with Ong Bak star Tony Jaa
- Reviews of Ong Bak and The Cat Returns
- DVD reviews the likes of Chow Yun-fat in City on Fire, Korean film Fighter in the Wind, Zimou’s House of Flying Daggers, Tsui Hark’s stinkfest The Master, Chan Wook-park’s JSA and WKW’s 2046 [All likely Region 2 coded but UK film fans grab your wallets and buy, buy, buy!]
Firecracker is a gem of a find for a resource of Asian cinema fans, especially in the UK. It comes out the first Friday of every month.

“Tsui Hark’s Stinkfest...” Could apply to many of his films...that is one Spotty Resume...Here’s hoping SEVEN SWORDS is something worthwhile.

Agreed. I wouldn’t be a Tsui Hark fan if it were not for the awesome Once Upon A Time In China series [1 through 3 anyways] he did with Jet Li. Everythng else, and I mean EVERYTHING, is as you said it - SPOTTY to downright ASS.
