Just in case the simple fact that Tears of the Black Tiger director Wisit Sasanatieng is resurrecting classic Thai masked hero the Red Eagle - originally played by legendary Thai action star Mitr Chaibancha in the 1960’s - isn’t enough to make your day, how about this: he’s doing it twice. Yep. Plans for the project, which casts Shutter star Ananda Everingham in the lead, have now expanded to the point that two Red Eagle films are now in the works. Tasty.

Sounds good, but I wonder when he is going to start working on “armful” - his homage to The One Armed Swordsman and HK wuxia flicks. Any news on that? I heard he is still in need of money before he can get started. Andy Lau’s Focus Films is helping out but that is all I’ve heard. To be honest, I actually liked his Citizen Dog more than Tears of the Black Tiger

Armful and Nam Prix are both stalled out waiting for international investment money. Armful’s a Singaporean production that’s moving along, but slowly, the Thai part of Nam Prix is in place, it’s Luc Besson that’s dragging his feet.
