It never rains but it pours ... it seems like just a few days ago we were posting those pictures for Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s loft and now here comes news of ANOTHER new project from the Japanese master.  This from Tommie, currently attending the Rotterdam film festival:

“Today I attended the International Film Festival Rotterdam and picked up a daily festival paper. In it was a small article about the cinemart. This is where filmmakers can pitch new projects to investors and do some networking. Anyway, the article mentioned a new film project by Kurosawa Kiyoshi!!!

HAMELIN
Dir. Kurosawa Kiyoshi
Prod co: 1001 Productions, with Zootrope Films, KK Productions.
Budget: 2.000.000 euro’s (in place: 400.000 euro’s). Japan,France

On a stormy night in a Japanese coastal town, 13 children mysteriously disappear -exactly as 13 years before. Tokyo sends a special agent to investigate, and suspicion falls on a dog trainer. Inspired by the classical tale of “The Pied Piper of Hamelin”.

Hope you find this interesting.”

Interesting?  You bet!  Particularly so because this thing’s already 20% of the way to having it’s budget in place!  Sweet!

I never get tired of K.Kurosawa films. Wonder if Koji Yakusho is in this Kurosawa film again - they make a great combination smile

That sounds like a great premise for a Kurosawa film.  Whee!

Has anyone seen this article/interview?  According to it, Kurosawa’s next film will be “a love story with a horror touch that ultimately will turn into a tragedy”.
