Death Note: The Last Name
Michelle Yeoh has been considered for a role in the third installment of the Mission Impossible series.
I don’t know how to handle this news. On one side I am jazzed that the greatest Bond girl ever will be on the silver screen potentially kicking serious ass.
On the other side I am wishing her to stay away as news about MI:3 casting has been all over the map in recent weeks and the production has been pushed back and marred with other staffing issues. Movies.com does a good job tracking of all the cast/staff changes since production began.
I just don’t want to see her sign on only to become another victim of casting purgation because Tom realizes that there is someone WAAAAAY hotter than he is sharing the screen with him.

I was just wondering why this accomplished actress is referred to as a “Bond girl.” While I agree wholeheartedly regarding her potential casting in MI:3, identifying her with a small role in a tired mess of a masturbatory Pierce Brosnan two hour watch ad is hardly complimentary.

Complimentary or not given the main stream appeal of a mission impossible movie i am not going to start referring to magnificant warriors, heroic trio, tai chi warrior, wing chun or crouching tiger hidden dragon. A bond movie puts her more into the same context as a mission impossible movie. and it is a title that more readers will know than her earlier, and agreed much much better, work.
a good rule of thumb = KISS: Keep It Simple Stupid. gotta think about the masses when writing these things sometimes.

I’d like to see you refer to Judi Dench as a “Bond Girl”.
A Crouching Tiger reference would hit the masses, surely.

Here’s some required viewing for you Yeoh fans… although after viewing this you might not be fans anymore. For once the R1 cover matches the quality of the movie!
