The more observent among you may remember the name Micah Moore from his loopy short film Ninjas Versus Pirates which we linked to a while back. Well, Micah’s back and this time he’s prepping a feature.
Another genre buster, Moore describes Chinatown Dick as a darkly comic martial arts detective noir. Turns out Ninjas Versus Pirates was Moore’s way of experimenting with green screens in preperation for this, which he says will merge the esthetic of Sin City with a healthy dose of Bogart and the Shaw Brothers thrown in which sounds pretty damn fine to me.
Moore’s currently rounding up financing partners for the film - ah, the fun part of film making - but he’s just sent us an exclusive first look. He loves y’all so much he wanted you to be the first to see it ...

I stopped watching Ninjas versus Pirates after about two minutes. It was a strain on the eyes and worse on the ears.
Not that this is doomed to be bad but… I’m not sure I’m sold on Micah’s attention to detail.

lol, haha I love the mispelling in the preface. I do have to say, knowing Micah, that NVP was intended to be utterly ridiculous - the biggest joke in the film was that people actually made it. But a handful of people just don’t get that - or they don’t like the audience being f’ed with. If you want attention to detail, watch his short film The Key. It premiered at Black Belt Magazine film fest @ universal studios, introducing movies including Hero and Kill Bill. so evidentally hes got something going for him when he’s actually trying.
this clip needs some work with the monologue and sound, Micah, but for just a test, pretty sweet so far

doh nice! defending my attention to detail while pointing out a mispelling! LOL. good call on NVP, the film itself WAS THE main joke. I did it in my living room on a $50 budget, making it up on the spot.
that type of reflexive humor is not for eveyone, but a lot of people enjoyed it. some laughed equally hard at some of the reactions to those who took it seriously.
i like THE KEY though. it’s not bad. here’s a divx link:

a feature film with intent is a much different beast than a joke one does with his pals on video.
