Get ready for one of the strangest - and funniest - things you’ve ever seen ... A cult phenomenon in Japan where their appearances on a variety show quickly prompted a hugely popular spin off show of it’s own, the Fuccons are a typical American family transplanted to Japan. Except they’re mannequins. And the creators use them to ruthlessly parody the western family. Really, these guys are vicious and just brutally, brutally funny.

But don’t take my word for it. To celebrate the impending US DVD release of Meet The Fuccons ADV Films has sent a complete episode of the show our way to share with you, the lovely and loyal Twitch reader. I’ve got the DVD. It’s only going to be $3.99 at Best Buy. The first volume (actually called volume 0) is only 25 minutes long, and that’s probably all I could really take of the show. I honestly don’t get it, and it isn’t funny in Japanese or English (I painfully watched both). Just another thing that’s recieved a lot of internet hype and completely fails to deliver on it.

I actually think it is very funny and so do all my friends (we even had a Fuccon Family night where we watched the best of dvd from Japan). I think this is one of those shows that you either hate or love, without a grey area in the middle. It is that weird. But other episodes are better than Tracy the Tutor. There will be episodes where Mikey gets abducted, numerous affairs, and a very head-on (off) approach when they tell Mikey why it is not advisable to stick your head out of a car window.

I love the Fuccons and with 25 minutes on a very cheap DVD: cheeeers to ADV!

I think I have the Japanese version of this DVD. I haven’t actually bothered to watch more than half of it, but it’s nice simple Japanese from most of them (Mikey’s all like ‘I want a dog’ repeatedly and so on) so it was kinda educational. And fairly funny, I thought.

Oh, Mikey! ‘Color of Life: Vermillion Pleasure Night’ is also incredibly funny (and the orig. show to spawn the series, I think) and available as an import DVD..
