LOST SEASON THREE

Loves me some Lost. Gripe all you want Lost and Heroes are still more fun than 90 percent of what’s out there passing for series television right now. Highs and lows taken into consideration Lost is a fine way to pass the time. And writers strike notwithstanding picking up Season 3 on December 11 is a fine way to look forward to Season 4. The extras offered here are in line with what have been on the last two box sets and will likely take you a couple of days to pour over and include a number of featurettes on The Others, the role of literature in the story of Lost, deleted scenes, bloopers, audio commentaries etc.  There are other features but this is Season 3 and I figure you’re either going to buy or not buy so I’ll stop here. The coolest feature though by far is called Lost in A Day and gives an overview of what a massive amount of work goes on during the 24 hours that make up a day in the life of a network TV show.

I’m hoping Cloverfield will give us even more of a reason to trust in the storytelling instincts of JJ Abrams- as if he needed much more street cred. If Lost seems a tiny bit less socially politically relevant than truly brilliant series TV Classics like The Prisoner it is undeniably entertaining. For the naysayers I can only say that Geez guys. It’s a TV SHOW! What’s wrong with a little fun for an hour once a week.

Best one hour drama show I’ve ever watched.  Unbelievably addicting.

Can’t stomach paying the $80 or whatever for the DVDs, but I’d like to check out the special features maybe ona rental or something if you think it’s worth it Can.

    Cheers.

PS - Missed you at TAD this year.  Maybe TIFF next year eh?

It really irks me when people Lost and Heroes together. Lost is much more than a “fun little diversion”, it’s more literate and thought-provoking than a lowest-common-denominator series like Heroes could even aspire to be. Just because both are serialized does not make them the same...they’re not even in the same league.
