Kim Hyung-Joon, president of Hanmac Films, was interviewed by the South China Morning Post on July 22 at a meeting between Korean producers he presided. Kim, producer of last year’s megahit 실미도 (Silmido) mentioned Benny Chan’s 天若有情 (A Moment of Romance) as his favorite Hong Kong film, and said: “Compared to Korean movies, I prefer Hong Kong ones. Korean movies play too “safe” and never risk enough ... last April, at the Hong Kong Film Expo I saw many stars, all working hard to save Hong Kong Cinema. We don’t see that in Korea, because our actors lack that hunger to better themselves.”

In her latest interview with Yonhap News, Lee Young-Ae said that she’s open to starring in short films: “Starring in different films is always a good opportunity ... If the chance to work in a film that ‘s a breath of fresh air and will allow me to recharge batteries comes, I’d love to do it ... I’ve finally been able to star in something new, but I’d still love to work in short films.” Her interest in short films increased when she was part of the Mis En Scene Festival’s jury. “I’ve seen a lot of award worthy films, it was a chance to reflect upon those debut films.”
Lee still hasn’t decided her next project, but she said that for the time being, she will just rest a little.

The two films, produced by (who else!) Indiestory will face off in the Competition section.

After completing the incredibly popular TV Series 내 이름은 김삼순 (My Name is Kim Sam-Soon), whose last episode scored an impressive 50.5% share (only the fifth TV Drama since 2000 to do so), Hyun Bin will star in Kim Tae-Gyun’s next project, tentatively entitled 솜사탕 (Cotton Candy). Vice President Kim Yong-Deok of Boram Film talked on the phone with My Daily News, saying that Director Kim and the writer of popular TV Drama 파리의 연인 (Romance in Paris), Kim Eun-Sook, are writing the script at the moment. It appears the film will be a melodrama, and is expected to start shooting around October, to release in the first half of 2006.
Kim previously directed 박봉곤 가출 사건(The Adventures of Mrs. Park, 1996), 키스할까요? (First Kiss, 1998), 화산고 (Volcano High, 2001), and 늑대의 유혹 (True Romance, 2004).
