Well it was another slow week for the movies here in Korea. The number one film, “My Father” is based of a true on-going story in Korea about an US Soldier, who is a Korean who was adopted by an USA family and returns to find that ,the person who claims to be his birth father, is on death row here in Korea. If you can stomach the Anti-USA vibe and are willing to ignore the DNA evidence, then this is the film for you.

The 2 thuds you heard were from Death Proof” and “Chuck and Larry”. I was surprised that I was not the only one who was not disappointed about the splitting of the “Grindhouse” into 2 separate films. The Korean audience I saw it with wanted to see both films along with the fake trailers. They were really into the film. It was such a joy to watch it with them. “Chuck and Larry” was a nice try but the audience I saw it with did not get any of the jokes and I was the only one laughing in the theater.

This week we are waiting to see how the release of “Bourne 3” will do in Korea. I have seen the trailer for Dragon War (D-War) to be released in the USA this weekend. My students have asked me to tell them how much $ the film made in its USA showings.
