Appleseed
Good news for our friends in the States. Kim Ji-Woon’s 좋은 놈, 나쁜 놈, 이상한 놈 (The Good, The Bad, and The Weird) is coming to the US next year, courtesy of IFC Entertainment, as CJ Entertainment just announced. The release is slated for first half 2009, and will start off with the five biggest markets for a total in between fifty and a hundred screens nationwide. The release scope might eventually improve if the film is successful. This adds another export to the list, which already included the UK, France, China, Singapore and more. CJ Ent. is currently negotiating with Japanese, Italian, Spanish and Scandinavian buyers for what look like pretty decent International prospects. What’s even more interesting is that, depending on the film’s domestic performance, CJ Entertainment looks to be open to the possibility of offering a more advantageous price for our three heroes’ head. So foreign distributors, just pray this will do well. Film is already monopolizing online ticket pre-orders, with a very healthy 80% ahead of its July 17 release.

wow this is very shrewd indeed. telling the domestic market it’s a hot item overseas, then enticing foreign buyers based on domestic performance (under no certain terms...) it’s the best little whorehouse in texas LOL!

Good news and bad there. Happy to hear I should be able to see this in the theatre, but damn if i don’t want to wait another year. I’m jonzing for this one and would love to see it sooner.

I’ll assume that beyond IFC’s acquistion we should still be able to view this sooner than next year via DVD, hopefully by way of CJ Entertainment in a nice Region 3 set!

Shouldn’t be a problem. The film opens tomorrow, so by Christmas we should see it hit DVD.
// unrelated, but just heard why The Happy Life was delayed for so long. There was a lawsuit going on between the DVD company and distributors, which seems solved, since rental is out early next month (same thing for Sex is Zero 2, but that’s not worth waiting for). So maybe September for the sales version.

I’m forking out for whatever disc set Korea has to offer this winter! I haven’t bought any fancy Korean sets in a while, though I’m considering The Chaser, it has been getting great reviews, also considering Legendary Libido. By the way, that is a great tag line on the image accompanying the article.

The Chaser might the comeback of the hugh jass long DVD reviews. As for Libido… I guess if it needs to be compared to the Byeon Gang-Swe of yore it’s even a little better. But still crap surrounded by copious displays of early twenties nippledom. Not that I complained.

Nothin’ wrong with that, may be worth waiting out the limited edition and picking up the regular edition instead, though.
