New Years Resolution; any British Comedy worth watching (that appears on DVD) will get a post dedicated to it. Any new British Comedy that comes along that stands out may also get a dedicated post (though I won’t do them all, they’re kind of churned out these days so standards aren’t as predictable as they once were) and then get pointed out later on when the DVD appears.

I don’t know really how best to keep track of it all, it is TV stuff that’s relevant and worthwhile talking about to a large extent but it’s not the easiest of stuff to talk about because I don’t quite know if anyone’s listening or if the sensibilites match up. Still, we have YouTube so there’s always going to be clips to point to or for you to go looking for. Note : this may result in enthusing for many things, but remember it’s only ever a small proportion of what’s out there and I am looking at the contemporary flow rather than the classics from the past, for the sake of making it easier to sense that some people might react well to it all.

For now, since Series Two of ’Ideal‘ is making its way to DVD here in the U.K, and because Christmas / New Year TV is full of repeats, I mention this show again in a copy / past fashion, “’Ideal‘ - literally ”I Deal (in drugs) for a living” as you might well imagine. Johnny Vegas is Moz, the dealer in self-emposed exile, living on a Council Estate from which various unsavoury characters appear in order to hand over their cash (and get their hash), some manage to outstay their welcome, others appear in tow with friends, others don’t quite stay long enough for Moz’s tastes (usually the saucy ladies) and generally he manages to get drawn into a world with which he would probably rather not be a part of.

He can’t resist sticking with it though, and the consequences are the sauce of some rich individual and brief stories, as well as a narrative which runs through the series - last time it was the legendary ‘Hand Job Murders’ which saw a severed hand making an unwelcome appearance along with Cartoon Head, a psychopathic man who is simply walking trouble. Very much recommended, Series One is out there on R2 UK DVD...” By the way, ’Ideal‘ returns for a Third Series during 2007…
