Distribution rights for Jeffrey and Joshua Crook‘s Gruesome (Salvage) are being offered for sale by Cinemavault Releasing International Inc. at the Marché du Film in Cannes. (Note: “Gruesome” is the new title of the movie in question; “Salvage” was its original title.) The movie is being screened at the Riviera 2 on Saturday May 20th at 4:00 p.m. (16:00). It had its world première at the Sundance Film Festival on January 24th.

The screenplay for Gruesome was written by the Crook brothers. The movie stars Lauren Currie Lewis as Claire Parker, Cody Darbe as Jimmy, Chris Ferry as Duke Desmond, Maureen Olander as Claire’s mother, and Jess DeLong as Jen.

Here’s a description of Gruesome from Cinemavault Releasing International’s website: “What if every day you relived your own murder? ¶ In the gripping Sundance hit Gruesome, college student Claire Parker (Lauren Currie Lewis) gets a ride home one night and finds herself in the clutches of a psychotic killer. Just when she thinks she’s escaped, he pounces - and Claire is violently attacked and murdered. ¶ But the next morning she wakes up alive and well. She assumes the whole affair was just a dream. But then it happens again. And again. Claire soon realizes that she is in a horrifying trap where she must relive her own murder, minute by terrifying minute, over and over again. Caught up in an endless nightmare, she must somehow break the cycle and piece together the truth - a truth too horrible to imagine - if she is ever to escape her own gruesome murder.”

Here’s a synopsis for Gruesome from the official website for the movie: “Greeted by the freeing light of dawn, college student Claire Parker leaves her night job at the local convenience store and awaits a ride home from her boyfriend, Jimmy - beginning this day like any other. But when Jimmy’s truck arrives, Claire notices that an eerie stranger, who introduces himself as Duke Desmond, is in the driver’s seat, and Jimmy’s nowhere to be seen. Reluctantly, Claire climbs into the old pickup. Once safely home, Claire quickly locks the door behind her, only to find Duke mysteriously inside. After being dragged into her dark basement, Claire’s life slowly drains from her battered body as she is carved up by the demonic Duke. But this nightmare is just beginning. ¶ Suddenly, Claire finds herself alive and well after the terrifying incident, returned intact to the convenience store from where she started. She assumes it was a horrible dream. But when she returns to her normal life, Duke arrives to stalk her again. After being murdered a second time, Claire realizes that she is in a horrifying trap where she must relive her own slaughter over and over again, minute by gruesome minute. ¶ On the run from her inevitable death and trapped in a never-ending nightmare, Claire must uncover the terrifying truth behind the mystery that guides her fate.”

Wow, I JUST saw the movie..And that’s not even the truth, I only saw the last half hour of it, and I was intrigued. I’d LOVE to see the whole thing, and I hope it comes back on TV again sometime soon because I live in a small town and the video store has next to nothing. smile
