Okay, this is just flat-out hilarious.  We’ve commented a few times lately how Belgian action star Jean-Claude Van Damme has been getting, well, just plain goofy in recent years since getting more and more removed from Hollywood while trying to get his personal life back on track.  And, frankly, I’m liking the goofy Jean-Claude a whole lot better than I liked the ever-so-serious Hollywood version.  He played a bit part as himself in French comedy Narco, he played a cat-burglar in Turkish action comedy Sinav, he was to have a prominent role in the third live action Asterix film - though that fell through, as did a rumored villain role in Rush Hour 3 - and now he’s back in the lead, playing himself in Mabrouk el Mechri’s French moc-doc J.C.V.D.

I don’t want to spoil too much but if the trailer’s any indication Van Damme should have turned to playing comedy - and acting in his native language - long, long ago ...

Ha! Pretty good! I’m amazed at how well kept he’s looking. Wow.

It is strange a trailer for a film he currently fillming get`s a trailer. Yet, a movie the shepherd that is finished several months ago we haven`t got a trailer for. hm

It’s freaky hearing him talk without an accent.

Mind you, he’s probably still got one but my French is too bad to hear it…

Looks good, and yeah, Van Damme’s acting does seem exponentially better in French.  He gave a very good performance in REPLICANT as well.  I’d much rather see him in this than in RUSH HOUR III.

    Very good, actually.  Yup.
