James ‘Scottie’ Doohan Beamed into the Afterlife

James Doohan passed away this afternoon at 85 from Alzheimers Disease. He will be fondly remembered for his iconic role on Star Trek as the feisty chief Engineer Montgomery Scott.

Died from Alzheimers? did he forget to breathe?
Pneumonia is a more likely culprit.

I work with Alzheimer’s patients a lot in my office (elder law firm). Alzheimer’s type dementia will eventually kill you - as your brain atrophies and your body realizes it is time to start breaking down, you stop eating and drinking so that you will stop producing waste. Your body tells you to stop intaking food, so you do - it’s just the natural process. This probably contributed to his death, but the pneumonia likely sealed the deal. It is a common scenario.
It’s sad that he died - my dad was so upset when DeForest Kelley died, so I know this will sadden him as well.
