It’s The Korean Military Versus The Undead In GUARD POST 506!

I need to make a confession here.  I have been aware of upcoming Korean action-horror Guard Post 506 (or GP 506, if you prefer) for quite some time now but have been avoiding it like the plague for the simple reason that it is the new film from the director of military themed horror picture R Point.  Now, there are those who like R Point considerably better than I do but to my eye that film was a never ending parade of missed opportunities, a fantastic premise - a Korean military unit in the jungles of Vietnam haunted by a vengeful spirit - completely squandered.  When word came out that the director was returning with another military themed horror film I simply couldn’t be bothered.

But today I could resist no more.  Set in a guard post on the outskirts of the demilitarized buffer zone between North and South Korea the film revolves around a military inspector sent in to investigate the bizarre slaughter of a squad of troops that left the entire squad dead - and decapitated - with the exception of one soldier, now left in a coma.  Yes, it’s a military zombie picture.  While the trailers leave no doubt that this is the same director as R Point - he’s got a very distinctive camera style - he seems to have learned from past mistakes and the action quotient is undoubtedly ramped up considerably in this one.  You’ll find both the first trailer and a recent press conference including addition footage embedded in the Twitch Player below the break.
