It’s A 70’s Acid Flashback In Sayo Yamamoto’s MICHIKO TO HATCHIN

What can I say ... it’s a very animated sort of day here at Twitch. The latest thing to catch our eye is the trailer for Sayo Yamamoto’s Michiko To Hatchin, an upcoming anime series. Yamamoto played a key role on Shinichiro Watanabe’s Samurai Champloo and the planning on this series comes courtesy of Manglobe, who have had their fingers in a number of top tier anime efforts, so expectations run high and this certainly looks as though it’ll deliver. The trailer doesn’t really give up anything in terms of plot details but those visuals ... man, those visuals. Pure, one hundred percent eye candy. Yes, please.

This might impress me more if I hadn’t seen the MAD MONKEY and IDIOTS AND ANGELS footage today as well. But I did, so there you have it. Looks like someone threw the opening sequences from SAMURAI CHAMPLOO and KEMONOZUME into a blender with some Bratz dolls, a FLCL DVD, and a lot of fluorescent paint. I need to see more to form any sort of fair opinion about this. Doesn’t look bad per se.
