Impatient for The Departed on DVD?

Impatient to get Scorsese’s Infernal Affairs remake on DVD without dropping coin into the pockets of bootleggers? Well, once again the Russians have gotten there first with a quality, official DVD release.
I’ve just taken the Russian release for a test drive and it comes with a solid, anamorphic transfer that shows a few specks and spots but is otherwise quite strong. The English audio track comes in 5.1 - the Russian dub in DTS and 5.1 - and as is often the case with Russian releases you must have some sort of Russian language option activated, which means if you have the English audio track on Russian (or Ukrainian, if you prefer) subtitles are forced on. So it’s certainly not going to trump the eventual R1 release but if you just can’t wait, it’s a solid option ...

Be warned—more than one person has complained about a nasty audio sync problem during the last act. Dunno if it’s limited to certain players or a certain batch of discs, but it’s something to consider before importing.

Good to know ... I didn’t watch it all the way through, just enough to check the features and video quality and didn’t notice anything like that as deep in as I got ...
